The Château de la Vallee is idyllically set on the edge of a village by beautiful rolling countryside next to the lush Forest of Eu. The Chateau is divided into two wings - which each have 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms - which can be rented together to sleep up to 20, or separately to each sleep up to 10. There is also a Cottage in the grounds with 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people. The three units each have their own outdoor private dining terraces and share the beautiful 5 acre grounds and heated swimming pool. This is a fantastic self-catering summer and winter rental property which has been lovingly renovated retaining a vast array of original features without being too formal - no priceless antiques for parents of young children to worry about! The accommodation is furnished in a period style in keeping with its rustic surroundings The relaxed and spacious accommodation and beautiful grounds make a holiday here something quite special. The owners particularly welcome families with children and have concentrated on making it a fantastic place for everyone to have a relaxed, laid-back and wonderful holiday.
The East Wing of the Chateau has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, two reception rooms, a smaller reading room plus a well-equipped kitchen/diner along with a private outdoor dining terrace complete with outdoor dining furniture and barbeque.
There is a twin bedded room and shower room on the ground floor level, two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms on the first floor and a huge ensuite family room with a double and two single beds on the second floor.
The West Wing of the chateau has a downstairs shower room, huge salon with marble fireplace, kitchen/diner and separate dining room. On the first floor is a mezzanine level overlooking the large salon, plus two double bedrooms each with their own ensuites and on the second floor is a huge family room with a double and two single beds and jacuzzi bath in the bedroom, plus an ensuite shower room and also another small twin bedded bedroom off this room.
The Cottage has three bedrooms and one bathroom, kitchen/diner and lounge as well as its own private outdoor terrace with dining area and barbeque.
Each unit has its own outdoor private dining terrace complete with outdoor dining furniture and barbeque.
The grounds are beautiful and traversed by a river which is fenced off for safety. The heated pool is large - 5 metres by 10 metres and open from the start of April til October. There are two ponies and a donkey in the pasture as well as wild ducks in the pond, plus a secret swing garden and meditation island.
The property is set on the edge of the pretty village of Grandcourt. The beach is just a 15 minute scenic drive away and the cities of Dieppe and Abbeville are just half an hour away, while Paris is an easy two hour drive. Grandcourt is a typical pretty French country village with a breathtaking church and just two shops – a grocers, and that all-important bakers where after a three minute walk you will be able to buy your freshly baked bread and croissants each morning for breakfast. The village also has its own very authentic bar. The locals are very friendly and it’s impossible to pass someone in the street without them saying a friendly “bonjour”. Less than 10 minutes drive through the forest brings you to the picturesque market town of Blangy-sur-Bresle with its lively Sunday morning market and eclectic collection of shops as well as a large supermarket.
It’s the perfect destination for a family summer holiday, a romantic winter retreat or as an idyllic base for an activity holiday all the year round with so much on offer in the region including golf, fishing, cycling, hiking, walking, motocross, quadbiking, horse riding and green-laning as well as historical sites such as the landing beaches and numerous chateaux to visit.
There are numerous theme parks within reach to delight the children as well as plenty of other child-friendly activities. Many of our summer guests come back in the winter months to make the most of the beautiful countryside and to enjoy the natural beauty of the region which has so much to offer all the year round. There are several riding schools in the area, catering for everyone from age three upwards. There is lots of fishing in the region. There are two quad biking tracks within 10 minutes drive. The area is very popular for green-laning.
There are many fantastic brocantes every Sunday during the summer – highly recommended and a great and very French day out for all the family. There is golf at Le Touquet. There are wonderful cycle paths, walks and picnicking areas in the forest of Eu, two minutes away. There is amazing wildlife to watch. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the area. There are expansive pebble beaches at Criel-sur-Mer and Mers-les-Bain and sandy beaches at Le Crotoy. There’s the bird sanctuary to visit at Marquenterre. There’s a great fish market and a casino at Le Treport. There’s a water park, Bagatelle, near le Touquet. Paris can easily be done in a day trip. Disneyland and Parc Asterix can be done each in a day. There’s Monet’s garden to visit at Giverny. So much to do for everyone.
