We had such a fantastic time at the villa! The week we spent there was the
highlight of our month long trip. I so appreciated all of Janis'
suggestions, notes and all the info about Ferragudo. It was really helpful.
Janis was amazingly thorough and emailed me many times to ensure all of my
queries were answered. It was almost as if I were her personal guest (even
though she doesn't know me at all!)

The villa was set up so nicely...we had everything that was needed....and
the pool.... Wow....the pool was truly a huge plus. The kids absolutely
loved it and my son, Pierce, actually learned to swim without flotation
devices during our time there. The villa was clean, tidy and everything was
orderly and easy to find.

Ferragudo is such a charming village and we really enjoyed strolling down
the narrow, windy, cobblestone pathways. Our kids loved exploring the
village. The gorgeous beach provided lots of fun for everyone. The
playground was a huge plus.

As for activities, our young kids loved ZooMarine , in particular the
dolphin show, where the emphasis was on human/dolphin interaction. We also
drove to Silves...an incredible historical town. And we did a day trip to
Evora to see the Cromeleque does Almendres, 100 + Standing Stones just
outside the city. Wow! At 7000 years old, this magical place inspires the
imagination.

We hope to go back! I would recommend this villa to anyone. :-)

Our family group of 7 adults ranging from ages 40 through to 79 have just returned from a stay at this villa. We were all impressed by the location and fantastic views across the river towards Portimao. The property was clean and offered a good layout. The resort is quite hilly but the older group members managed ok. The villa is located overlooking the fishermans beach and you can walk around the castle to get to the Praia Grande beach, this is a lovely walk. Beach is ideal for young children as the waters are shallow and only have very gentle waves unlike much of the Algarve. We did not have a car and were able to walk to a different restaurant on each night, and the food was excellent and good value for money. Would recommend this villa to anyone. Our only criticism is that the sunbeds were basic and not very comfortable. We can highly recommend Barnards Restaurant, the pizza restaurant in the village centre and a must is the Titanic restaurant in Playa da Rocha, one of the top restaurants in the Algarve and it won't break the bank to have a delicious meal there. We would definitely return to this villa in the future.

GREAT FAMILY LOCATION

My family comprises myself, my husband and two boys aged five and two. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ferragudo and it was everything we wanted from a holiday. If you want a fun day packed with exciting activities there is plenty to do, however there is also the opportunity to have a lovely relaxing and tranquil time. The villa and its surroundings are lovely and one of my favourite things was to have breakfast on the terrace over looking the castle and the beach, watching boats come and go.

My two young boys loved the beaches and everything that was on offer. The beach is safe and so large that it never got packed. The villa was equipped with everything that we needed and this took all the stress out of taking two young children away and of course they loved the swimming pool. The villa looks beautiful in the photographs and is even more beautiful when you see it. The thing that surprised us was the size of the Villa. It made going away with our friends, another couple, very easy as we had the space to share times together i.e. eating and relaxing as well as chilling on one of the terraces if a quiet moment was needed.

The advice and notes given to us about where to eat and spend our time were most appreciated and allowed us to settle in very quickly and make informed choices and get straight into our holiday without wasting any time trying to track down the local amenities. We hope to book next years holiday there again.

This is a wonderful villa in a glorious location. It is beautifully looked after by the housekeeper and the standard of cleanliness and comfort are second to none. There is not one aspect of it that could have been bettered! The photographs do not do it justice as they fail to capture the spaciousness and wonderful light that fills the property. The views from the balcony are great and most evenings were spent watching the lights on the boats coming and going. The pool was a huge hit with all of us particularly as we were very fortunate to have exceptionally good weather. There was ample shade when it got that little bit too hot and the pool room was great for the children to read and play games at the hottest times of the day.
Ferragudo itself is delightful and we were really pleased that we did not hire a car as there was loads to do without the need to travel. The local beach is lovely and there is an inflatable area out in the sea which was a huge hit with our daughters. The beach bars were good to watch the sun go down (live jazz at Nau on Sunday evening). The town square is quite a busy place in the evening which is great for children - there was a fire eater there one evening which kept all the children enthralled. The Three Monkeys bar also has live music on a Wednesday evening but it does start quite late if you have young children. We ate at quite a few of the restaurants recommended by the owner and found them all to be very good although our favourite was Novo Velho (the fish was superb but the locals all seemed to be tucking in to the enormous kebabs!).
There are plenty of minimarkets and an excellent butcher in town as well as the brilliant little bakery. You could easily manage without having to visit a supermarket. The figs were fantastic and ridiculously cheap as were the oranges so freshly squeezed juice was always being poured!
We really didn't want to leave it was so perfect.
Also, the owners were incredibly helpful and informative from the initial enquiry onwards. They replied promptly to any queries and everything was handled professionally. A really wonderful holiday.

Message  We were a group of three middle aged couples from Ontario, Canada. We stayed at the Villa at the end of September beginning of October 2009. The listing description of this villa is 100% accurate regarding the location, layout and facilities. The property is exceptionally clean and kept polished by the housekeeper who comes in every two days. She always had a smile for us and answered any questions we had. The owner of this villa provided directions and suggestions for restaurants and activities for the surrounding area.

Ferraguo is a small, sleepy fishing village that gave us a real taste of Portugal life. It has narrow streets which make is very charming. If you wanted the shopping and active party area it was in Praia de Rocha which was only 10-15 minutes drive. The villa is in the center of the Algarve. It is easy to drive east or west or north to visit the surrounding cities and villages for a day. We had perfect weather and the area was not busy with the summer vactioners absent.

We would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to experience a "True taste of Portugal"

A wonderful holiday, spacious villa, good facilities and lovely views. The children had great fun in the pool as well as the run of the beach. - MR & MRS KEN WELSHMAN, CHELMSFORD.

Outstanding Villa, high specification, tastefully furnished, fantastic artwork. The local restaurant owners were friendly and helpful. The Marina is also a great place to go to for dinner, Dockside has good fish and the Italian cafe is somewhere the teenagers liked to hang-out. HARROWSMITH'S, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.

Can't resist coming back each year. Had a lovely holiday, ideal villa for family and our new baby. Weather was perfect. NIKI & MATTHEW CLARK, LEIGH ON SEA.

The villa was lovely--completely up to expectations--and the location was perfect--beautiful view of the beach and sea. We so enjoyed staying at the villa and feel very lucky to have found it. I would highly recommend it. MOYA KEYS, NEW YORK, USA (
